What is the best way to cook liver to get the most iron absorption?

I have extremely low hemoglobin and have been taking iron supplements and eating leafy greens throughout my life, but it has not been enough - I have been told by my doctor to eat red meats high in iron, particularly lamb and liver. I do like those meats so I don't mind adding them back into my diet, however I want to get the most benefit from them - is there a way of cooking them that will help retain most of the iron in the meat?

更新:

@ckngbbbls - I know what to cook, and I know about vitamin C. I KNOW all the foods I should eat to increase my iron intake, so your answer has no benefit to me at all. I was just wondering if there was a way of cooking the liver to be able to ensure that I am getting the most iron out of it.

leafy greens need to be eaten cooked and also eaten with a vitamin C source to aid in absorption.

do you happen to know why you are low in iron because if you don't fix that, it won't help to increase your iron intake.

    My issue was heavy periods.

It doesn't matter how you cook the liver, iron from meat is absorbed more easily than iron from veggie sources.

Red meat is also higher in iron as is bran cereals.

Also, cooking with cast iron also increases the iron in your food and is exactly the right iron for your body.
