I have a question about the Sims 3 Pets?

I have this great new computer with an amazing graphics card, and my Sims 3 game runs great on it. There are no real issues that I've noticed with the game and the graphics are beautiful, except for one thing. The Sims 3 Pets. I installed all the other expansions and they run just fine, no problems. But the pets expansion for some reason has this one awful glitch.
The Pets fur is see-through? And their faces are all messed up. Only the cats and dogs though. The horses look just fine and other wild animals (deer, etc) have no issues. This sucks because this is the best expansion and I love it but it's useless because the cats and dogs just look too freaky. 
My computer runs great with graphics, in my options it's turned all the way up so should I turn it down? It's always like this, not a one time thing. Should it go away if I turn down the graphics or some other setting? And has anyone else experienced any issues/glitches like this?

Try the obvious uninstall and reinstall & if that doesn't work then you should make sure your game is updated to the highest patch (go to TS3 website & check for a patch)

Have you restarted your computer in a while? If not then try that.

If you still have problems with it then you should try to contact tech support at EA, they might be able to help you
