Can you transfer contract to an unlocked phone?

I bought an unlocked phone because someone stole my other phone. Can I transfer my plan/ contract to the unlocked phone? I have a two year term on it and I was wondering if I could just pop in the SIM card in the phone and go from there. Thanks.

Oh yeah I got a LG Optimus NET P690B and I'm with Telus.
