What Do Live Shows Do During Advertisment?

It's like I watch shows like Britain's Got Talent, X Factor, The Chase and other live shows. But I'm wondering what they do after they say "we'll see you after the break". Do they just stand there awkwardly

    They usually have a five minute break, when I was there they said we're having a five minute break. We talked and when they started again they told us were starting again
