I think David is being too excessive with his advice. If you are in Naama Bay you shouldn't have a problem because you are central. The airport is only about 15 minutes away, so unless you are advised by your travel agent not to go, enjoy yourself.

The FCO is currently advising people not to go to Egypt and, in particular, to avoid road travel to Sharm El Sheihk or any of the other Red Sea Resorts. Because this is the standard advisory from all the Western Governments, the Egyptian tourism industry has collapsed. Although the local people would no doubt hope to be able to protect you, if armed militants catch you on a country road, there's nowhere to hide. If you can cancel and get your money back, I would cancel and go somewhere else slightly more peaceful. If you cannot get your money back, get proper insurance cover before you go. If you should be unlucky and pick up an injury, the emergency repatriation will be paid for,
