Why is Minecraft so laggy on a new computer?

I just went to the store today and got a new computer; A gateway SX series, SX2110G-UW24 with a AMD E1-1500 duel core. One of my first tests was to install minecraft. My last computer was over 5 years old, so I think it's more powerful. o.o Can someone please help me? I think it might be Java, but I have no idea what to do.

    A dual core AMD E-series processor? AND no dedicated graphics? That computer won't be able to run anything except for games from 2004 or earlier (and even then not really).

    That PC is not so powerful. The E1 just isn`t able to handle it
