2000 Dodge Dakota 4.7 v8 Head Gasket?

Question

Sooo a little history... Last year my truck ran hot caused from a busted radiator hose. The hose was fixed and no problems until last week.

I noticed a trail of liquid/oil (coolant I guess) coming from under the engine area and then it started overheating again. I ran it to a shop within minutes.

So they said it was a head gasket issue and said I would have to get "both sides replaced/repaired" and they sent my heads off "to get shaved". That with an oil change and whatever else they had to do cost $2057.32. It has been in the shop 10 days.

I got a call today that they found an oil hose or something that needs to be replaced and also they said I need to get my timing chains replaced while they had everything broken down. That will cost $600.00 and will take an additional 2 days to fix.

Am I being ripped off or are these prices and time frames average?

how many miles are on the vehicle....if its over 150,000 I could see them wanting to replace the chain set...and $600.00 sounds about right provided they are replacing all 3 chains, both hydraulic tensioners and all the guides...but the almost $2100.00 for head gaskets sounds high ..Ive dont that job many times and its 8 hours labor at best, plus about 2 more for the timing chain set
