I want to own a decent fishing canoe?

I have a Coleman 15' I got it used for next to nothing. used canoes go for around $50-$500.

I hardly ever use it I much rather use my boat because it is more stable and I can launch it myself. The canoe is akward and cumbersome to load and unload by yourself.

If I was you (unless you live on a lake) would worry about buying a truck first then worry about a canoe or boat.

The proverbial question of what is more important. If you buy a canoe now how do you plan to get it to the lake? If you had a car you can throw a canoe on the roof and drive it to the lake. Winter is about to set in so lake will freeze and canoe does nothing. Car can get snow tires and go all over the place because it's really hard to paddle a canoe in the snow. I'd wait on the canoe because once winter sets in, so does the insanity of a fisherman from being stuck indoors. They'll just sit there holding a lure or rod and reel, looking out the window, thinking of the fishing. Something snaps and they sell all their crap because they want to upgrade! That's when Craigslist lights up like a x-mas tree and you can wheel and deal for a canoe. The best part is you can drive there and pick one up cheap! Canoes in the 14-17 feet range sell anywhere from 150 thru 500 depending on the model and condition. You can even barter for one! So all in all, hold off on that canoe, get the car, wait till it starts snowing and make your move. Then pimp out your new ride they way you want it, ice melts and you fish in style!

No more than $200 bucks. Went salmon fishin for my first time this year on the Betsie river in benzie county Michigan.. Floated a canoe the whole way down. Absolutely beautiful!
