Hot topic.First of all IE is secure as any browser. The statement IE isn't as secure does not hold true anymore. SORRY DUNBAR the evidence does back up your statements. In the last couple of years there have been more vulnerabilities on firefox than IE or Chrome.Plus IE does a good job on it's own of blocking bad sites or malware. Again better than firefox. The three main browser are actually pretty close in security but in every security tests of browsers I've seen in the last two years IE scored better than firefox. Firefox was my browser of choice for many years. But it just got to slow and now use chrome, with my backup browser being IE.I will recommend IE over firefox every time. For two simple reason Security and Speed.Things change and people have to be aware of that. It just gets my goat when people say things like IE not secure use firefox. Hey guys things change over a 10 year period. Stay up on current security issues.
Pappy I looked at the tests at NSS labs and found they supported the fact that IE is secure. But the testing may be flawed which seems to always be said when someone does not like the results. What I would really like to see is a current test from a legit lab that shows IE being insecure. I'm not a fan of IE but also it seems to have much better security than in the past. With as I said there's not much of a difference in the three browser. But every thing being equal,I now do put IE above firefox.

You can download RocketMelt. It has some cool features like you can login to your facebook account or to your twitter account (If you are fan of facebook or twitter) on the browser and your update will popup even while your browser is closed (because you are still login) and it looks similar to google chrome but it is better than any browser. Simply it is a Social Networking Browser.

The best browser is the one you like to use.
I see that Firefox had a lower security score than IE. I have been using Firefox on Linux for 6 or 7 years and I have never had a problem. But I do keep my browser up to date and stay away from shady warez and porn sites.

I use Firefox and chrome, I prefer Firefox...
http://www.techradar.com/us/news/software/applicat...
"Safari simply doesn't cut it in this company: it's last year's browser, the slowest here, and we don't like the user interface very much. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but there's nothing particularly right with it either.
Long-term browser battle fans will be highly amused by IE's performance these days: it's really, really quick, comfortably ahead of its rivals, and now everyone's making their browsers as minimalist as possible there's no horrible UI to get angry at unless you start going crazy with third-party toolbars. Please don't. For sheer speed on Windows 7 PCs, IE is the browser to go for."

"Sly..." usually I find your answers etc. helpful and accurate, however in this case you are wrong.
The report you cite has the exact same fatal flaw the NSS "Test" had 2 years ago**, namely:
"Exploits containing malware payloads (exploits plus malware), also known as “clickjacking” or “drive-by downloads” were EXCLUDED from the test..." [emphasis added]
This is the tell-tale give-a-way about the specific exclusion of some of the most commonly exploited vectors targeting iE (all versions), and the seemingly tailored test parameters specifically designed to emphasize only the iE components that 1) Block malicious URL's and 2) discover malware payloads of known signature.
With this omission, NSS has deliberately or mistakenly exempted iE from these well worn and well known tactics to compromise the Windows OS which currently flood the 'Net, and plague Internet Explorer users (and hacked-by-Microsoft Firefox with the unannounced and unapproved installation of Silverlight).
For those who insist on using Windows and it's native browser on the 'Net, there perhaps is no persuasion or argument sufficient to overcome the overwhelming evidence to the contrary regarding the risky nature of this lethal blend; but for anyone "on the fence", they should read any "report" saying this or that package is best, and see for themselves what exactly has been tested, and HOW it has been amplified to fit the agenda of the testing entity.
Of course, all browsers must be modified to constrain automatic 'fetch and deploy' behavior, but to blindly assert that iE is "best" based on looking at a simple graph is, in my opinion, simply wrong.

Ed G; Have you not read the cited test and seen the part I quoted??? And this means nothing to you?
I stand by my answer.

Yes I am laughing. IE will always be the worst. The only reason it ranked that high is because it asks you about every sibgle download which, frankly, i find annoying. It's still slow and insecure.
