What does getting paid only commission mean?

it means if you don't sell anything then you don't get any money.

if you're a lousy salesperson then it's a bad thing. bad sales people earn nothing or next to nothing.

if you're a really great people person & an excellent sales person then it's a really great thing. good sales people have no limit to what they can earn.

when I sold cars there were guys who were lucky if they made enough money to cover the draw they were given (we were advanced $300 a week & we had to earn enough to cover the advance & anything over that was ours after taxes)

my best earning month, I earned $20,000 (usually I'd hit somewhere in the $10k to $12k range) & there were guys who were earning that much & more every month.

but commission sales is a lot of work. you're always on & you're always looking for the next sale. & you're constantly talking about your work to the people you meet. You've got to love what you do & you have to be knowledgeable about your product.

Salespeople usually work on commission. A person who sells real estate doesn't get paid by the hour. Say when they make a sale, they make at least 3 percent of the sale. A 150,000.00 house would make them 4500.00. If I did my math right. Working on commission can be a very profitable way to earn a living. Many self made millionaires were in sales. But you have to be careful who you sell for. Some actually pay you nothing. I sold cosmetics once. I sold a tube of lipstick for 8.00 and it cost me 4.00 to buy, so it appears I made 50 Percent. However.....if I wanted to sell another tube of lipstick, I had to take the 4.00 I just made and buy another tube. No profit whatsoever. But not all companies are this way. I like commission.

It manner basically you're getting paid on how well you sell things. Basically whatever it is you are promoting you will get a unique percentage from what it bought for. So retaining it simple let's imagine you get 10% commission and you sell whatever for $one hundred you will receive $10 from that... This is a excellent thing or a bad factor. On account that you could go a very long time with out selling anything and consequently make no cash. Or you are able to do pleasant and make a lot of money. Lets hope its that one..
