Need some advice on making bills.?

My wife lost one of her jobs in July.I lost mine around same time.She makes about $200. a week.It barely keeps the roof over our heads and food on the table and the electric on.We are looking for work whenever we can.We are both in mid-fifties and jobs are scarce it seems.Anyway we have 2 credit cards and have tried to work with them.We made payments regularly and on time.But the last 5 months we have not made any nor do we use the cards.Tried to reason with them but they said we did not qualify as a hardship case and keep sending bills with mounting charges.What can they do to us legally?

    you can stop paying your credit cards, but be prepared they will "charge off" your debt, and your credit will be handcuffed... but ultimately, that's about all that will happen, unless your owe several thousand dollars... but you will not lose your house. So, don't concern yourself with that

    Legally, they can take you to court, get your wages garnished, make you pay the amount you owe plus penalties and interest and court costs, and ruin your credit for many years to come.
