Upgarding Macbook Pro Ram?

I brought a macbook Pro in September and it's still on manufacture warranty. (standard warranty)

I want to upgrade my Macbook Pro from 4gb to 8gb Ram. I wanted to know if I do it myself and upgrade the ram will it affect my warranty ?

It is designed for you to add RAM and it will not affect your warranty.

It should not, you check with Apple, but I'm almost sure it won't. They will try to push Apple memory on you. Don't fall for it, it's to damn expensive. Just buy RAM from Newegg and throw it in yourself.

You would need to first open your mac to see exactly whatțs in there now. You might need to replace your existing 4GB completely if it's 4GBmade of 2 x 2GB. Get new 2 x 4GB (most laptops only have 2 memory slots). That's always better even if you just have one 4GB stick in there, as you need identical pairs for your dual channel memory to work well.
