Is this sari material?
My husband sent a length of material to me while he was in the Middle East. It looks like material for a sari; however, both ends are unfinished. Is it normal to find sari material that needs to be finished, and how would I find someone who could finish it properly? Would there be any other traditional uses for such a length of material, such as different ways of wrapping that would not need a finished end?
Also, I have seen people wearing special base clothing under the sari, and I have seen what looks like a basic top (full torso and long sleeves). Are there any "rules" regarding appropriate base layers to wear with a sari (if that is what this ends up being)?
Thanks for any information, recommendations, links you can provide.

"Sari material" is just silk.
And...yes. It is normal to find material to create a finished garment, that is not finished.
