It sounds to me that you can check e-mails in any operating system ( Win 7, Window XP, etc ) without problem. Hence I do not think the problem is due to the Boardband service provider.
I suspect if you cannot read mails, the problem is due to your outdated browser, say Internet Explorer 6 or below. You may change to use another browser say Chrome, Firefox or I.E. 8 to check e-mails. Some mail servers have upgraded and the properties could not be functioned with low-version browsers.
Try to take this procedure and see if it works.
