Not to mention a much larger portion of the Great White North would be able to support farming.
Yes, Canada would be a much nicer place, but that's not the point. You Canadians need to feel guilty about all those suffering people in third world nations who are suffering because of something you did. They need you to suffer with them. At the very least, they need climate reparations- that's a fancy way of saying they want your money.
Let's not forget the Medieval Warming Period was very good for Europe and Greenland. If the internet was available back in those days, perhaps the Africans and Pacific Islanders would have been crying for climate reparations as well.

The comments about changes in agriculture with global warming are wrong. The main determinant for agricultural suitability is soil conditions, not temperature. Wheat is grown in northern Alberta in the Peace River district because the soil conditions is good, but not in Saskatchewan or Manitoba at the same latitude because soil is not good. Increasing the temperature a few degrees due to global warming will not change the soil. Although the north is cold for much of the year, there is sunlight for 24 hours in the summer and the photosynthetic productivity is quite high in the short summer season where soil conditions permit.
There is an exception to the comments above. In artificial environments created in a greenhouse, the productivity is independent of the soil conditions. In a warmer climate the growing season would be extended. One of my current research projects pertains to solar heating for this purpose. The goal is to provide more fresh vegetables to northern communities in Canada.

Well, I live in Canada and am convinced global warming is a scam. But, say it wasn't based on faith but had actual science behind it, then certainly we'd have these things to look forward to. Two of the past six winters have set records as the coldest in history in the northern hemisphere. Nowhere is it warming and sea levels haven't risen even an inch in the past century.
But if Canada became tropical what about all the polar bears whose numbers have increased from 5,000 to near 30,000 since the 1950s? It'd be a long swim to Antarctica for them!

People from the south tend to forget that their are eight countries with territories above the Arctic Circle and as the planet warms there will be changes that may benefit them all.
At this time it is impossible to say how the planets climate will change but anyone that thinks global warming is going to turn Canada into a tropical country, doesn't understand a thing about global warming.

Southern California would be nicer, without any frost that kills inland citrus sometimes.
Every climate has good and bad to it. I like tropical climate, but so do a lot of diseases.
Where I live there are a lot of days that I can go swimming at the beach or skiing and be at either in 20 minutes. From 7500ft to 0ft altitude. To get to 10,000ft from 7000ft takes a few hours since you cant drive it.

Based on some research that I have read. Yes, Canada will become a more warmer place. But It actually depends on how the climate will shift. There is no absolute answer. Just theories and speculations. =) But we hope for the best with Canada.

Why not just move to California, which is like that right now? And you will not have to flood the homes of hundreds of millions of people.

Yes, Alina, Canada is not immune to any of those things

WRONG!!! Well, maybe after millions of bison depositing plant food in the North for 10,000 years. Until then, the only crops which will grow out of the peat bogs will be methane.

Yeah! Sure! Just park the boat on top of the Maldives and toss some money overboard. Since the Loony does sink, I am sure that the fish will put them to good use.

It was warm in parts of the world, but not all.

Much of Africa and the Pacific was chilly during the Medieval Warm Period.

The change will not be so significant. However we will be able to grow cherries and peaches in many more parts of Canada. New farmland in the far north will be opened up. It will take less energy to heat our homes.

Yes but that will never happen because global warming is a lie.
