Why do teens hold up 2 fingers in a photo?

Holding up the index and the middle fingers in a "V" shape is the peace sign. It is the peace sign no matter how you hold it.

Holding up the index and the pinkie fingers means "Rock On!" Sticking out your thumb turns it into the sign language "I Love You" sign, which may be what the teen in question is going for.

Holding up two middle fingers on both hands means, well, uh, let's not go there.

If it's just two random fingers (not listed above) on both hands, it's probably just a silly pose, much like making a goofy face for the camera, and such gestures are often accompanied by a goofy face.

Unfortunately, it is not the peace sign. It started as the V for Victory sign (Palm facing forward, index and middle finger extended) with Prime Minister Churchill in World War 2 and became the peace sign in the 60 s. It was based on the reversed hand gesture popularized in Medieval England where archers who were captured had their bowstring fingers cut off to disable them; Archers who still had their fingers held them up in defiance and showed they were still a threat, reversing the gesture became the opposite. Palm toward you is essentially the middle finger in Europe and as President G W Bush found out, in Japan as well. It s insulting to do it with your palm toward you. If you allow your children to make this gesture, at least correct them, but don t think you or they are cool or just being kids if you don t know the real meaning behind the gesture.

I think its sad people call teens retarded and idiots just for having a language of their own as we all did as kids, Granted kids are much more advanced in several ares than you and I were, but they are not weirdos or retarded stupid or anything else you feel like saying about our kids...they are kids and if we would stop complaining about them riding skate boards on side walks or gathering in parks or hanging out they wouldn't be on the freaking internet absorbing all the garbage the real weirdos and idiots are promoting....they would be out side being kids because that is what they are KIDS!,,it is not their fault they have to go through the horrid growth stage of TEEN years ,,only the strong survive..

It's called deuces. It their way of being "cool"...its most offen on both hands ****** sideways. Teens do it in photos a lot. They think their gangster lol!

It is the peace sign . That is the pose for teen now a days, its the style . Most of every teen does it .

Maybe it's the rock on sign where the two fingers look like horns.

im not sure what your talking about if its not the peace sign because thats what it is when you hold up your middle and index finger...
