Windows Explorer - administrator permission?
on my C drive, in my Data Files, i'm trying to make a new folder and move some files into it from where they are currently.
i can make the folder fine. no issues there.
but when i drag the files into the folder, it says "you'll need administrator permission to move to this folder.". i click "ok", and it comes up with a message saying "if you started this click continue", which i do. (this isn't unusual - it does this for other things)
but then, it comes up with "you need permission to perform this action". clicking "try again" returns the same message; clicking "cancel", obviously, cancels it.
any ideas?
(windows vista home premium, dell inspiron 6400 laptop)
agh sorry, forgot to mention - i am already an administrator

go to Control Panel and open User Accounts and make yourself an administrator under add or remove account

You might be the Administrator but are you using a User Account to do it. If so, that's why you need permission.
If you are the only one using the computer then there is no point in using a separate User Account.
