My thumbs and fingers really, really hurt when I'm sad. Why?

Whenever I read a sad book, or watch a really sad movie, or do anything that makes me feel like crying, my thumbs and fingers really, really start to hurt, with this dull ache. It's mostly at the base of my thumbs, more than anything. And before you ask, I'm not a heavy texter, nor do I have to type that much. Why does this happen only when I get sad? Help please?

    It could be your nervous system playing up - see an iridologist, or someone similar.
