No, in small amounts ( a pierced caplet on the food twice a week) can help with a dry coat in winter. So could primrose oil or a 1/4 tsp of canola oil. they're digestible by a cat.
Just don't use cod liver oil, it's too hard on their liver and repeated doses of that can drain them of vitamin A in their bodies.
