I recently purchased a small LED flashlight/laser pointer.?

I noticed something about the laser pointer that i had not noticed about laser pointers before. When you use it, the dot that it makes has a sparkly visual effect on everything it is on. What is this, and what causes it? Thanks.

    It's probally interference patterns. Light travels in waves and the crests and troughs can cancel one another out causing patterns like those you describe.
