How can I increase my over-all intelligence?

更新:

I am not sure that I wish to learn about what is going on in the world, but more about the past. I feel like my brain will not allow me to force any more material into itself. If there any possible way of expanding your brain's capacity to hold information? I feel like I am loosing information as I am gaining information.

the prior ways mentioned are pretty good ways for the most part to increase intelligence. however if your wanting a solution to remembering correctly while still learning new information, you may want to change the way you look at the problem.

for example: why are you having difficulties with "forcing material into the brain?" are you over-extended? or is it that the information is hard to understand?

if your overextended analyze what your doing and see what you can change to improve the situation.

if you have problems retaining new information while keep older information change your approach to learning the new information. ex: instead of only reading the information, create notes, mnemonic devices, apply it to prior knowledge, build a real life model of what your trying to remember,

the more modes that you can apply or take in that information will increase the likelihood that you will correctly remember it because of the fact that the more ways it is processed creates more neural pathways- vision+kinesthtic+ etc= more than that of just one of those alone.

of course all the modes to take in information cannot be used at once or all the time, and these surely are not the only modes of learning that are there.

to address the problem of loosing older information is simple the more you can use that information the more you can think of it the more you familarize yourself with it will increase the likelihood that the information will not be lost.

Read books, and write your own essays about what the book was talking about. Find a topic in the book to write an essay about and expand what you think and feel about that topic. Find other sources on that topic. I don't mean fiction books for the most part.

Read a dictionary, and use the words that you learn.

Seek out knowledge. Watch a small child discovering things, and become curious like that.

Let go of your limiting belief system about not being able to hold more information in your brain. Embrace your ability to learn, grow, and think.

Take time to explore different cultures and ways of life. Visit the library often and look at a lot of the reference books they have there.

Become a person who has experienced things. go to a resturant that serves food you have never tried before. Learn greetings in another language. Hang out with other intelligent people. You can learn a lot from them.

Read newspapers every day. Make a list of words you don't understand; later, look them up in a Dictionary.

Watch educational TV. The Fox News channel is excellent, and they are on the air day and night discussing U.S. and world problems.
