i am planing on building an engine capable of at least 1000 bph...?

更新:

i am trying to decide on the block that i want to use. i am curious about the cadillac 501 cid engine. is that a 2 or four bolt main? i am looking to stick with the 60's era engine block.

更新 2:

a hemi is not the answer i am looking for. i want to stick with gm products. that is what i have worked with fir 25 years. dodge is not that much different, but the engine will go back into a gm vehicle so i would prefer that i would but of a like manufacturer.

更新 3:

the caddy block is only an option, i know it will require cubic inches to achieve my objective, i might also go with a pontiac 455.

更新 4:

as i said before the 455 is an option and possibly an easier option, but i was curious about the mains. as for the turbo, that will not be needed. i plan on going with a supercharger. which one,i have not decided.

更新 5:

buying a prebuilt block really defeats the purpose of what i am trying to do. i will eventually open my own shop building and maintaining the classics. this car will be one of my advertisements.

The pontiac 455 also comes in a 4 bolt main bearing configuration.

    Suggested changes:

    1. overbore +.030

    2. use 10.5/1 pistons (forged)

    3. forged rods and balance the piston/rod assemblies.

    4. remove the nodular steel crank and replace with forged. have is balanced also.

    5. New cam with higher intake and exhaust lift and duration (0.5 lift/ >220 duration) this will really increase the amount of air if its naturally aspirated.

    6. consider bi-turbo with intercooler. (its better without for longevity but for max power, who cares how long it lives.

    7. this will require big carburetors (>750cfm) to achieve 1000 hp. consult with your local speed shop on this.

    8. New Steel/Aluminum heads with roller rockers for better lift and accurate duration at high RPM.

    9. suggest lightenend flywheel (if any)

    good luck.

Why use a Caddy engine when there's plenty of stroker kits for big block Chevy's and MOPARS that will go close to 600ci and produce 1000hp or more. Why waste money on engines that will have to be fabricated when off the shelf parts are available for GM and MOPAR engines? Big blocks can be blown or turbo'ed for a lot cheaper than trying to build an engine such as the Caddy that won't have the availability of off the shelf parts that are currently available at a reasonable price.

Only use the Caddy engine for an anchor, it has no support to make it that strong. You want GM? 572 cube low compression short block, Merlin heads, 8-71 supercharger, dual dominators should get you in the ballpark. Go Hardcore

The quickest, cheapest, and least time consuming way to achieve this is:

    1) Buy an engine already built from E-bay.

    2) Install it in your car.

    3) Go!

With a big-block Hemi you should be able to get 1000hp and then some.

    here's a video of one

GT is correct, however a CADILLAC motor is built by GM
