Liquor supplies?

At the moment I have some smirnoff vodka, some bacardi 151, and some carolan's irish cream-- what else would you guys suggest buying just to have on hand in case friends come over or something? Name brands and prices appreciated.

I would add a bottle of cuervo ($25), johnny walker ($20), beer, white and red wine. This way you have everyone covered.

Rule #1 Most friends will drink anything that you have.

You can spend a lot of cash buying everything so go w/ basics if you are on a budget. Do the baics food groups and some good mixers. Now you can make whatever you want and Vodka and Rum are good starts.

Go w/ quality over quantity and your friends will appreciate it. They will rip you up if they find cheap booze!

    Vodka

    Rum

    Jack Daniels Whiskey - $25

Mixers- coke, sprite, gingerale, gatorade, seltzer, cranberry juice, red bull, OJ, Tonic, pineapple......

If they can't find a drink to make out of this, then find new friends. Just kidding!

    Stolichnaya Vodka - around $25

    101 Wild Turkey - around $20

    Jose Cuervo

    Captain Morgan's

    Jack Daniels

    Jim Beam

    Canadian Mist

    Beefeater Gin

    Wild Turkey (80 proof & 86-1/2 proof) - around $15

Root Beer Schnaaps - around $10

    Christian Bros Brandy

This would be a good start, and you can add or try others such as Makers Mark, grenadine syrup, Midori, and blue curacao. By all means if you can afford it, a bottle of cognac would be nice.

You should always have a bottle of Cutty Sark Scotch on hand, about $14.00. A bottle of Jim Beam Straight Kentucky Bourbon should grace your bar, about $12.00. A bottle of Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey would be appropriate for your friends, about $15.00. Skip the Gin. My experience is that Gin drinkers are the worst once they have had to much to drink. These are the basics. Do not let the prices fool you. All of the above brands are readily acceptable throughout the US.

資料來源: By the way, in my era it was customary to never go to ones home without something in hand. When invited to a party, we always took a bottle of booze and left it with the host.

These prices are for a fifth (750ml), and are approximate, based on the prices in my state, Massachusetts, which probably isn't your state. My advice, though, is if you are in the Northeast just go to NH and buy from the government if you want the best price. States' rights for life.

*Bacardi Light Rum $15 - good for fruity crap, mojitos, etc., a good staple. Other rums? Pusser's British Navy Rum (medium-dark) is about $25 and is the best rum I've ever tasted, with a very nice wood-aged taste, almost like a good whiskey. Gosling's ($20) and Myer's ($22) are very good dark rums. Bacardi is good bang for your buck, but try a rum and tonic with one of the dark rums and you'll never go back. The dark rums make a better Cuba Libre (rum and coke with lime), too.

*Jim Beam Black Bourbon Whiskey $22(?) - this is a decent bourbon. If you are looking for a cheap mixing whiskey get Jack Daniel's (NOT a bourbon, a Tennessee whiskey, $25, a natural with with Coke, Moxie or ginger ale) or regular Jim Beam ($14). If you are going to be drinking your whiskey straight up or in stiff drinks like the Old Fashioned or Manhattan, upgrade at least to Maker's Mark for $30. If you're a total baller, get a small batch bourbon like Blanton's ($45) or Woodford Reserve ($37). Expensive? Yes, but worth it if you like good bourbon. Turkey Hill 101 is very good too, and remarkably smooth, for $25.

*Amaretto DiSaronno $23(?) - delicious for sipping neat or on the rocks. Also remarkably versatile as a mixer, it can impart a really nice fruity sweetness, but don't use too much or it will overpower the other ingredients. Mix it with cola and it tastes like Cherry Coke. Take a whiskey sour and add a splash for a great mix of flavor.

*Jagermeister $20(?) - Maybe this is an acquired taste, but I love it. Put it in the freezer and it makes a great cold shot, as strong as vodka but better tasting. Jager can also be added to drinks as a substitute for bitters, and there are several fairly decent recipes that call for it.

*SKYY Vodka - I hate vodka. But I hate Gordon's more than I hate SKYY ($17), which is good, as vodkas go. Absolut is also good, at $23. If you're a baller, get Grey Goose ($33) or Belvedere ($32) or such. Actually, if you're a baller, don't drink vodka.

*Beer! - If you're planning on mass consumption, get something like PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) or Keystone Light, or Coors Light for a step above. As for good beers, here are some suggestions, although there are so many that this is barely a dent. Anyways, since there are so many, finding one you like is a matter of trying various different ones. I've included where they are from, for fun. Most of these will set you back about $7-12 for a six pack.

    Lighter

*Dos Equis / Monterrey, Mexico, this beer is what Corona should be. *Sierra Nevada Pale Ale / San Francisco - a great pale ale with nice fruity flavors. Also try their wheat ale. *Harpoon UFO Hefeweizen / Boston - an unfiltered beer, very interesting, and fairly refreshing. It comes in a rasberry version. *Brooklyn Summer Ale / Brooklyn, NY - from a historic brewing hub, this is a very nice, fairly hoppy seasonal beer.

    Medium

*Rogue Dead Guy Ale / Oregon - great flavor, very full-bodied. This is one of those beers you buy for the name but then really enjoy. *Sam Adams Boston Lager / Boston - as a MA resident I'm maybe biased, but this is a good beer. They make many other varieties, including an excellent summer ale brewed with a hint of natural lemon flavor and a nice spiciness. *Newcastle Brown Ale / Newcastle, England - my personal favorite.

    Darker

*Guiness / Ireland - enough said. *Dogfish Head / Delaware - they produce a variety of very nice stout beers. I like the 90 minute IPA and the Raison D'Etre. *McEwans / Scotland - a good stout, flavorful, but not molasses like many stouts.

Have fun, and be responsible. I hope this helps.

    Beer

    Wine Casket

    Bourbon

    Whiskey

    Gin

Sorry I can't help you with brands or costs, as what we have here will be different than what you have.

My suggestion would be to go to a liquor barn or some such.

A 6 pack of whatever beer your friends drink, a bottle of red and of white wine. Possibly a bourbon, such as Maker's Mark or Jack.
