  • Koran: 71 virgins or raisins?

    I read that some Koran scholars think that the translation of the reward for killing an infidel (ie- us) and dying yourself was not the 71 virgins; but in fact 71 "white raisins" of "crystal clarity".

    Unfortunately, the original person who wrote this Christoph Luxenberg' (Die Syro-Aramaische Lesart des Koran) is in German; and the Koran is in Arabic. I can't read either.

    How much weight does his argument hold in a linguistic sense? (not looking for a massive hate-fest; I am curious on an intellectual level)
