Who won the photo shoot this week and who was sent home? I recorded it on my DVR and it ran out of space at the very end.

  • Strange wireless network problems?

I have a cable modem and a wireless router that I have had for about 3 yrs. I have had my laptop for about 2 yrs, a Dell inspiron with a built-in wireless network card. I've never had any difficulty connecting to any wireless networks since I have had the computer. My fiance has a Toshiba laptop that is newer than mine. Since we moved into a new rental house, I suddenly can't connect to the network sometimes, or if I can it's local only (no internet) most of the time. My fiance doesn't have any difficulty getting on the internet. Our laptops are side by side in the same room, and I'm actually closer to the router than we were in the old house. I thought my wireless network card must have gone bad, and I've been using an external wireless card that plugs into the USB port. It works okay most of the time, but sometimes it goes really slow. Well, now a family member is visiting and uses her laptop for online classes. She has been having simlar problems as what I'm having with her laptop (a Compaq with a built in wireless network card that is about 2 yrs old) in this house too. I bought a new Belkin wireless router yesterday, and I still have to use the USB network card to consistently get online. I'm maybe 20 ft away from the router and cable modem, with a wall in between me and the modem and router. Still my fiance is the only one who is able to consistently get on with a built in wireless network card. I am a lot closer to the router and modem in this house, and in the last house there were several walls in between.

  • Friends only personal ads?

I have social anxiety disorder and have a hard time making friends, usually. I have been living in the same area for about 3 years and do not have any friends other than my fiance. I am friendly with people at work, but do not spend time with anyone outside of work other than my fiance. I would like to make some friends and was thinking of personal ads. I have experience with online dating and if I could meet someone in maybe a personal ad type format who is looking for a friend too (in the same area) I think that would work well for me. I posted an ad on craigslist but if anyone knows of some platonic personal ad websites I would appreciate it.

  • Can debt collectors monitor phone use?

I've noticed something, but it could just be coincidence or my imagination. Can a debt collector know when you have just been on the phone? It seems like I will just get off the phone and a minute later my phone rings and it's a debt collector.

  • Area code decals on cars?

I live in Phoenix, AZ and in the past 6 mos I've seen a number of cars with the central Phoenix area code in big numbers on the back window of cars. It's "602" and sometimes that's combined with a sihouette of a phoenix rising. Just today I saw a decal of "623." That's the area code for the west Phoenix area and western suburbs. Is this popular in other areas too outside of Phoenix? We have 3 Phoenix metro area codes, but I haven't seen a "480" decal yet (that's the eastern Phoenix metro area code). I'm just curious if this is a trend other places too.

  • What's worse?

I just made a donation to a food bank yesterday. I always make a point to give to food banks ever since I was in high school. The story is my high school was having a food drive and everyone was asked to bring donations into their homeroom. Well, the day before the deadline, my homeroom teacher talked about how bad it looked that none of us had given any food to the drive and begged us to bring something the next day. The next morning, I was the ONLY one in my homeroom to bring ANYTHING and what I brought was a single small can of green chiles. My family was poor while I was growing up and it was the only thing that I could find to bring. Then my homeroom teacher complained about the only thing we brought was a can of green chiles.

ANYWAY--What would have looked worse? No one in my class of 30 or so students bringing anything? Or did my single item (not even an in demand item) look worse?

  • Can Ove gloves be cut?

I have a small dog (maltese/chihuahua mix) and live in AZ. It's already in the 90's here, and soon it will be well over 100 degrees. She goes on walks to go potty three times daily. She's done okay in the summertimes here before, but I worry about her feet on the midday walk. I've tried to get dog shoes for her before but have never found any that she would tolerate and that would stay on her feet. I had an idea to cut the fingers off of the Ove glove to make into "socks" for her during the summertime to protect her feet, but I'm not sure they can be cut. I don't have one. Can anyone answer this?

  • Would my dog get along better with a puppy?

Hi, everyone. I have an approximately 7-8 year old spayed female maltese/chihuahua mix. She was a rescue I got in 2003 when she was 2-3 years old. A year or two ago I thought maybe getting a second dog would be a good thing--someone for her to play with and spend time with while I'm at work. Well, I tried bringing a second dog into the home and things didn't work out well. I'm not sure if the specific dog was part of the problem (it was a high energy dog, not like my dog). Anyway, my question is might things work out better if I brought a puppy home instead of an adult dog? I know puppies are generally high energy, but I thought maybe my dog's maternal instincts might kick in with a puppy. Just a thought.

  • Chain stores with Easy Bake Oven?

I live in Phoenix, AZ and I got an Angel from an Angel Tree (a wish for a needy child) and it's for an Easy Bake Oven. I just got it yesterday. The gift is due by Dec 18 (no time for internet shopping). The Wal-mart I was at today is out of them. I can visit other Wal-marts, but I was wondering what other big chain stores might have them? I did look on a lot of chains websites to see if there were any listed on the website on the assumption that the stores would have the items if they were on the website, but Target, K mart, Sears and Kohl's don't have them on the website. I have to work 8-5 Mon-Fri and I don't want to be out all night looking tomorrow.

  • Carpal Tunnel surgery a second time?

I have a history of pretty severe carpal tunnel syndrome and had the surgery done for it in 2002. Well, earlier this year I started having pretty mild symptoms of it again. I asked my doctor about it and she referred me to a neurological clinic and they tested me for it and it is indeed back. At the time (in the spring of 2007) it was pretty mild and they said I probably didn't need surgery again, but suggested I might consider a cortisone shot. I never got the shot. It's gotten worse lately and I think i need it evaluated again. There's a place here in Phoenix that has a new procedure for carpal tunnel surgery that has a lot shorter recovery time and I'm considering seeing them. I don't know if you can have carpal tunnel surgery repeated, but I think it's worth checking out. Anyone else had this condition come back after surgery?

  • Pain with IUD removal (no strings!)?

I have had a standard copper T iud for 2 1/2 years. I have been considering having it taken out for a while and a few months ago my PCP was going to take it out for me, but the strings were almost completely gone (there is a small fragment of one, but not enough to grip and pull it out). She referred me to a gynecologist for an IUD removal, but I never went to have it done. Fast forwarding to this past weekend, I went to an urgent care for vaginal drainage, thinking I had a case of bacterial vaginosis. Well, the doctor there looked inside of me and saw not only vaginal drainage but pus coming out of my cervix (YUK!). She put me on 2 different antibiotics, but said if the cultures she took come back positive, chances are the IUD will have to come out. Well, I have an appt on next Monday for IUD removal, but I'm afraid it will be really painful in part because I haven't had children before. I know how they remove it without the strings, but it sounds really unpleasant.

  • Fallon, NV?

I'm looking at starting travel nursing again soon. I am doing a phone interview tomorrow for a job at Banner Churchill in Fallon, NV. Fallon is a small town fairly near Carson City and Reno. Is anyone familiar with the climate there (winter weather?) and the town? I live in Phoenix now. My goal is to eventually move back to the East Coast (where I'm originally from), but I need to stay in the Southwest for a while yet.

  • Is this legal?

Okay, my fiance is in the process of getting a divorce. His soon-to-be-ex has an order of protection against him, even though he's never hit her or anything. Both of them have lawyers. I know his soon-to-be-ex and have been friendly with her since I got involved with my fiance (they have been separated for years). Well, she wants spousal support and on Friday afternoon his lawyer had an offer from her lawyer, which my fiance feels is acceptable, but he wants the order of protection lifted so he can get his stuff out of their house without being escorted by the police and stuff. He has a lot of equipment there and it will take days to accomplish this. Well, my fiance wants me to call his soon-to-be-ex and communicate with her through me. I don't want to get involved. I have done this a few times months ago before he had a lawyer, but I don't know that it is appropriate, and I don't feel comfortable doing it. He's pressuring me a good bit though.

  • What can I do to REALLY block popups?

I don't know what to do. I get pop-ups all the time for "free" ipods and "free" giftcards and from adultfriendfinder. I have popups blocked in internet explorer. I have a security thing that has popups blocked. I tried some sort of windows live scan thing but activeX wouldn't let it work right. I also continually get spyware, that I scan for and delete, but they come back all the time. I don't know what to do.

  • Emotional reaction to music?

I bought a cd from a band I really like. I've listened to them for years, since I was in college. I haven't listened to them in quite a while. Well, I was listening to the cd today and there wasn't a song I could get through without crying. I don't understand it. I have an okay life now, but it is quite different from how it was in college. I think part of it might be someone I was involved with back in college. I had a 3+ year relationship with a woman while I was in college and for a year or 2 afterwards. This was her favorite band too. I have a man I love now, and I am engaged to him, but something about that relationship I never got over. I don't know what my question is, really, but I am shocked that the music brought forth this kind of reaction.

  • Wine bottle cork problems!?

I have a problem removing the corks from wine bottles if they use plasticy/rubbery corks (not natural corks). I have a wonderful corkscrew that you screw into the cork and then these little levers get pulled down and it removes the cork. Problem is, that doesn't work most of the time with the plasticy/rubbery corks. Instead, the screw just pulls out, leaving the cork in there. I try over and over again, and sometimes I don't get anywhere. Just now I got it out about 1/2 an inch before the screw pulled out and managed pull the cork out the rest of the way with pliers. With the natural corks, the corkscrew works like a charm. Any suggestions?

  • Non-medical question for other nurses!?

I'm looking to get back into travel nursing, hopefully by the end of next month. Well, I'm having problems getting references from my last hospital job (I left about 5 mos ago). All their HR dept will give is dates worked, salary, stuff like that. I need more clinical references--it's a JACHO requirement for the travel company. They have to be from supervisors there. I worked on night shift and part of the reason I left is that I felt uncomfortable with the management there on the unit. I called one of them and asked her to fill out this simple form and fax it into the travel company. Well, it's been 2 weeks now and they haven't gotten the form. I have called her twice and haven't been able to get her on the phone again. I don't know what to do to get these necessary references. My current job is doing case management in hospice and they can't give me the kind of references I need. I need 2 and they have to be from my supervisors.

  • Recommendation problems!?

I'm so frustrated right now. I am planning to start travel nursing again, hopefully next month. One (or actually 2) big things are in my way. I need 2 recommendation letters from an employer I left about 5 mos ago. I brought the forms down there week before last and left them for the people who need to do them, with instructions to fax them ASAP. Well, my travel nursing company still hasn't received them. I've called a couple of times and haven't gotten anywhere. It's the hospital's policy to just give the length of time you were employed, and how much you were paid. It's a JACHO (healthcare accreditation company) requirement for travel nursing companies to get letters of recommendation that address your clinical skills. I was hoping my bosses would do this without a problem, but I'm not getting anywhere. I don't know what to do at this point!
