Do you have any proof that the stories in the Bible were not just made up to teach "faith" and "correct living" to the ignorant masses?

I mean there are much longer books that are complete works of fiction - and they're better written.

You would think God would have gotten all of his facts straight...

This is a simple question: Do you have evidence (verifiable evidence based on facts or physical observation) of God's existence? If so, please post it.

Remember, the Bible IS NOT EVIDENCE, neither is HEARSAY, or STORIES YOU HEARD or the RANT OF SOME CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST who simply states things like "Evolution is a lie!"

I say you cannot produce one shred of evidence, not even a logical argument, for why God must exist (and not just a bunch of quotes from the Bible about why God cannot or will not show himself, or that he is only visible to the faithful, blah, blah, etc., etc.) - now prove me wrong.

Don't you think it is odd that 2000 years ago God was constantly showing himself, speaking to prophets, and causing all kinds of "real" miracles and catastrophes?

This was of course back when the average person had a third grade education and people died in their 40's from things we would laugh at today. Seems like God shows less and less of himself as people become better educated and man learns he can control things that he used to attribute to "God's Will".

It also seems like God could dispel all these false religions and atheists, and save a lot more souls from damnation if he would just stop by and say Hello.

How about if we TAX the CHURCHES? Their real estate holdings alone could put a huge dent in decreasing the National Debt.

Also - I'm not interested in "finger pointing" as to what caused the debt.

Genetics is the study of how genes are transferred from parents to offspring. How some inherited characteristics are positive for the offspring (example - larger stature) while others are negative (example - Sickle Cell Anemia) and some genes are carried but not expressed. If specific traits are passed on generation after generation then you see amplification of traits - which, given enough time, would lead to very specific characteristics in certain populations (example - the physical differences in people of northern European heritage versus people of Mediterranean heritage)

These are scientifically proven facts which have been demonstrated to be true over and over again.

Do you think it is odd that the "founder" of modern genetics was a Christian priest - Gregor Mendel.

Fundamentalist Christians always seem to point out that scientifically we cannot disprove God because ALL scientific theories about the origins of life and the universe have not been "proven" - and are thus not worthy of belief. Yet, Christians believe WITHOUT QUESTION in a book that, other than some historical relevancy, has ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF WHATSOEVER. Can you ever really hope to have a logical discussion with people like this?

Also, if the bible is the "word of God" as many seem to believe - why are there so many inconsistencies, mistakes, misinterpretations, and vague symbolism and metaphors in it? Wouldn't GOD be much more clear and precise when giving us simple humans a book to follow?

I am trying to understand some basic electrical principles - and have no electrical system background. I want to set up a small backup battery system to run a few appliances during temporary power outages. I planned to use a 12V 200AH AGM Battery to store power. What will draw less power a 12V or 120V appliance (same wattage)? Someone told me to go with 12V because they are more efficient, but if 100W/12V = 8.33 AH and 100W/120V = 0.833 AH. Wouldn't the 120V draw less power? Or does a power inverter (to convert 12V to 120V) use a lot of power? Any ideas?
