  • Human Resources contact for Argos ?

    Hi

I worked in Argos in 2015 and for a background check my new employer is running I need documentation from them to state I worked there however they aren’t responding to my emails

Does anyone have a number or direct email for Argos Human Resources?

    Thanks

  • Hire right screening, will they say my credit score? ?

I owed money to Littlewoods and am currently paying it off (I’ll be honest I moved house and completely forgot about it like a dope). They sent me 2 interim letters and I have regularly paid them ever since

Today the company I have worked for have sent an email advising there will be a screening of me by Hireright. Will the 2 letters from the debt Collector effect this? I’m terrified of losing my job

Thank you for any advice and sorry if it’s a silly question

  • Telling a boss you find his emails demoralising? ?

I have a manager since May who’s team I moved to while working from home in quarantine and he has sent me 2 emails today about some manual errors I made, basically in one case 0.76% of the work had an error and in the other case 0.6% (I did the calculations) and he has asked for an explanation, I usually don’t make these mistakes but we happen to be inundated with complaints to log since last week. He sent me a similar email for a similar amount of error a few weeks ago and he is asking for an “explanation” as to why they happened. I told him last time my only explanation was a mistake on my part and I apologised. He is very negative and I have stayed online to do unpaid overtime up until 10pm sometimes to cover work for ppl on sick leave etc... and he has never addressed it.

So say for example if I log 900 cases a month and usually there is little to no errors, the one month where we have over 1000 cases I make a mistake on 4 of them (btw it has been confirmed by a senior colleague that the mistake on the 4 cases have no bearing on them being handled and they get amended in the sanity checks anyway) he will send an aggressive email saying what is your issue and explain why this has happened. It makes me feel like a scolded child. I was covering a girl on Annual leave today so I worked from 9-5.30 but had to stay logged on to 7.40 to do unpaid overtime for work he kept sending me. I have emailed him asking for a c1:1 any advice on how to address it non confrontationally?

  • Is my boss a micro manager? ?

My team and I are finding it hard to deal with the manager of our team. There are small little tasks that I know how to do and he will insist I run them by him all the time. Even though my day is full he keeps adding tasks for me, I have often stayed logged on way past my log off time and he has IM’d me to ask questions and not mentioned that it is 9pm at night and am I struggling to keep up with the work he is giving me? He can be very OTT with his reactions to small human errors and in one email at 10pm at night,

he asked me “what my problem was”? And in comparison to errors other ppl in the company make (like losing a client 80,000) this was very small, it was that I’d sent a customer the same letter twice.... a big complaint about him from my co workers is that we will be in the middle of very important tasks and he will call on skype to spend 45 mins discussing what we all agree could’ve been an IM or email. Also even though our tasks are very regimented he will say “now Mary, do this this and this ok?” And it’s the same thing Mary does and knows to do every day....it’s just very patronising, also he will speak over us when we have a point, we are a team of 5 women and him and on morning calls he will take a point someone has said, twist it and repeat it as if it was his idea, I just find him infuriating and I don’t know how to let him know that his style of management isn’t constructive but not sure how. Please don’t call me lazy in the comments, just asking for advice

  • Should Managers be able to call you without warning while you are working from home during pandemic? ?

    Hi

I just wanted to ask your opinion on whether a manager should be able to consistently call you throughout your day on your computer to discuss whatever they feel like during a pandemic?

If you do think it’s ok and there’s no issue, why?

If you don’t think it’s ok and there is an issue, why?

I personally think with unforeseen circumstances and with maybe having kids or babies, roommates, family etc... at home, your boss shouldn’t just call you while you are in the middle of a task or potentially (because we are all human) in the middle of handling something at home for a min or two. I know a lot of people will disagree but that’s just my opinion...we are all human and nobody’s perfect

  • How to not let an overbearing boss bother you?

I asked a question about what to say to an overbearing control freak boss (just FYI there are 4 others on the team that all feel this way about him).

I won’t state what I feel he does wrong as the answers to the last question basically told me I was probably a slacker drama queen....

Anyway I guess there’s nothing I can do to stop him being how he is but for some reason the way he speaks to me and the amount of work he expects from me (I am supposed to with 9-5.30 but have often worked till 9pm or after because of his requests, no overtime pay) really gets to me. He can be really blunt but from what I and others can see is for no reason, in meetings he will often disagree with what we say then twist our points to his own words and say them. My co-workers will often send eye roll emojis when he does this so I know it’s not just me. Anyway, other than telling me to not be a drama queen and talking to me like I’m a piece of crap who doesn’t deserve a job (charming) does anyone have any advice on how to put things into perspective for myself and not let it bother me so much?

    Thanks in advance

  • My boss is a control freak ?

The team I joined in January asked me to move “temporarily” to the other team in that dept for approx 3 months, resolving customer complaints. The manager I have now is an absolute CONTROL FREAK.

He is up my *** about one thing or another every day of the week. We are WFH since March and he calls me on my laptop without warning several time’s a day to run over unnecessary things

A few weeks ago I covered for a girl who does all the admin in my team, it was a nightmare, I had maybe 45 mins training because that’s all we had time for and I made a few mistakes, the largest of which was that I sent 2 of the same type letter to a customer and delayed them getting a €25 refund by 1 week. To put that in perspective, one of the customer management team lost 80,000 for a customer the same week, and her boss asked if she was stressed WFH. My manager emailed me at 10pm (we are SUPPOSED to work 9-5.30) and he told me to explain myself and that I had caused a terrible customer experience, and actually used the phrase “what is your problem” in the email...

Yesterday, he called me to ask me to do another report at 4pm and I still had a big one to do and when I said ok I will try but I still have one to do he said “ok, what exactly have you been doing?”

I don’t know how to handle it but I feel I’m going to crack, please help me with some advice on what to say to him. p.s. he is like a robot to speak to and all my team dislike him overall

  • Inside ankle swelling throughout day then going away overnight ?

    Hi

Last week I woke up to pee at 6am and pulled my left shoulder when I moved which was super painful and felt really bad for around 2 days then eased but still is a bit sore in the mornings

I noticed the same day I did that that there was puffiness on the inside of my ankle, not the outer ankle but the opposite side. This was on both sides but more noticeable on my left leg.

I’ve always had issues with my hip on the left side and aches and pains which I put down to my weight. I decided because it was freaking me out so much to lose weight this week and I’ve begun a diet, 6 days in and 5 pounds down (yay)

My ankle swelling has persisted but it goes away at night time and I wake up with it completely gone.

I have also noticed since last week a tingling feeling all over my body but particularly in my face, legs, crotch, arms and hands that goes away when I’m moving Or walking

I do suffer with anxiety, especially health related as my dad died from cancer young.

I don’t have any other symptoms of anything and feel fine otherwise

Any advice on what this might be?

    Thank you

    :)
