I don't even care about Best Answers so don't even bother giving me them, I really don't care! I don't answer for points I answer for the love of answering and I ask questions not for negative points, but for knowledge and the love of questioning. I'm all in favor of scraping the point system all together but if that makes some people nervous fine, I'm also in favor of giving everyone a dollar for every point they have. There, happy? .0000000000000000001% of people put this in their profiles... Add it to yours and then alter the percentage accordingly if you're one of them.

What about instead of points, just use the thumbs up and down ratings for answers and questions. Then the total of both is kept for each profile and levels are achieved at certain increments of maybe 10, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 thumbs up. So if you have enough thumbs up it proves that you are a genuine user of the site and not a troll, but if you don't you won't have enough thumbs up to even make a dent in the system. Would this work?
