I'm a car electronics installer with several years of experience. I'm very familiar with installations of in-dash head units, mobile video systems, hands-free phone kits, speakers and amplifiers, and security and remote start systems. My skills don't run so much toward fabrication or box building, and I'm not very interested in high-SPL bass-heavy systems. I prefer "stealth" installations. I currently have a MECP Master Installation Technician certification. My answers are based on my experience in vehicles and my knowledge of automotive electronics and basic physics. I don't put much emphasis on brand names; you won't often find me putting down a brand or pushing one on Yahoo Answers. I NEVER vote up my own answers on Yahoo Answers. All of my Best Answers have been either assigned by the asker, or voted up by other users. If you have to vote for yourself to pad your Best Answer totals, you're doing it wrong.
Running out of space on Windows partition?
I have a computer that I put together a few years ago. It includes a 60GB hard drive, with Windows XP.
When I installed the hard drive, I thought it would be a good idea to partition it. I made one partition for the OS, another for programs, and a third for file storage.
I'm not even close to filling up the hard drive; there's lots of room left on my program and storage partitions. However, my OS partition is full. I've been getting warning messages that there's less than 200MB left. So far I've been able to delete enough unnecessary stuff to fix the problem, but I don't think I can do that much longer. Meanwhile there's a Windows service pack update waiting that I'm afraid to install.
Do I have any options other than reformatting or replacing the drive?
5 個解答Desktops1 十年前Using SATA PCI card for primary HDD?
I have a second computer I built myself for the kids, and the hard drive has failed. I happen to have a SATA hard drive lying around, but the motherboard on the computer doesn't have SATA capacity. If I buy a SATA controller card, will I be able to use the computer with just the SATA hard drive? In other words, can I boot the computer and install Windows in this configuration, or does adding a SATA card require an existing, working hard drive with an OS installed?

4 個解答Baseball1 十年前Why are capacitors considered more dangerous than batteries in automotive electronics?
Often in questions about "stiffening" caps, the answers include recommendations that warning signs are posted whenever an audio system includes a capacitor. I don't understand why capacitors are thought to be more dangerous than batteries. Even lawsuit-wary car manufacturers don't post warning notices about battery voltage, because the voltage levels in a standard automotive battery aren't considered to be dangerous to humans. A capacitor can't reach a higher charge than the electrical system it's connected to, and it doesn't store nearly as much power as a battery. So why is a capacitor in a car audio system considered dangerous?

We have a spammer in Yahoo Answers who keeps posting answers that are just directing people to a link. The link leads to a hometown.aol.com address. Her profile keeps getting deleted and keeps coming back on YA. Is there an address at AOL that we can write to complain about the site "she" keeps linking to?
1 個解答Yahoo Answers1 十年前Installer liable for accident?
A car audio shop installs an in-dash mobile video player and bypasses a built-in safety lockout feature. As a result the car owner is able to watch movies while driving. He causes an accident which results in the death of a passenger in another vehicle. It is determined that the distraction of the video screen contributed to the accident.
Should the car audio shop have any liability? Should the installer or shop owner face criminal charges?
