  • Trouble coming out of standby?

    Trouble coming out of standby?

My new PC goes into standby, then when I wake it back up by pressing the power button, only the system fans and case lights come on. Keyboard and mouse do not come on or respond and there is no output to the monitor. BIOS has latest update from Gigabyte.

What controls the standby anyway? Your thoughts are appreciated.

    Additional Details

Standby is when the the PC turns off power to entire PC except just enough to keep the memory going. The peripheral devices (ie: mouse, keyboard, all usb, etc) are off as no power is supplied by the PC. Therefore moving the mouse/keyboard does nothing because there is no power supplied to these devices for them to respond to. This is normal behavior. The only way to get the PC out of standby is to press the power button. This "wakes up" the PC, it restores power (or should) to the system and peripherals and returns you to where you left the PC before it went into standby mode. This is what Standby does, not to be confused with Hibernation.
