Hi. Thanks for visiting. No doubt, if you've spent time in an adolescent section of Yahoo! Answers, you've found it to be a busy place for teens looking to communicate with others about whatever comes to their minds. Once in awhile, though, there will be a teen or parent of a teen who will have a serious question to ask. I have a real place in my heart for questioning teens and worried parents, and I can only hope they will find the advice they are seeking. Aside from my college degree in teaching, I have no other proper credentials but the experiences I've had in my life. I am married, have been for five years, and I love my wife. I do not have any children; but nonetheless, I feel I have something real to share, and I hope my answers come across as sincere and well-thought-out. PS: Following is a link to some resources I have about adolescent issues: http://homepage.mac.com/schroedermb/souldoctor/resources/sr.html

  • Sexual Education = Free Pass?

I have a question for all adolescents, and all adults who can remember their adolescence. If your parent(s) taught you about love, attraction, puberty, sex, reproduction, proper conduct around boys/girls, etc., but also taught you about safe sex, contraception, and how to use a condom, did you feel as if your parent(s) handed you a free pass to begin having sex, and with whom ever you wanted? Did the fact they might have placed a condom or two in your hand or purse cause you to feel as if you had their permission to begin having sex?

  • Growth or Denominational Restlessness?

I was baptized into the Methodist church, spent my formative and college years in the Assemblies of God church (where I made a conscious choice to be baptized into Christianity again), returned to the Methodist church of my infancy after college, got married there, then actually became members there with my wife, and now we are strongly considering leaving the Methodist church for an Evangelistic Lutheran church we both have really enjoyed visiting.

Can this be considered a normal part of growing in my faith and my relationship with God? Or am I being restless? I would describe myself as a born again Christian who is an independent thinker, but also very interested in a church and pastor who preaches and teaches the whole of the Bible and the redemption of Jesus Christ.

  • Is sleep apnea permanent?

I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea in October 2003. I have been using a CPAP machine ever since. I started out at an air pressure of 9, but over time ended up at a pressure of 14. Back in January of this year (2007), I began following a steady exercise program and lost fifteen pounds. My doctor had me re-evaluated through another sleep study, and my pressure was reduced to the original pressure of 9. I am sleeping better and feeling better. I view my sleep apnea as being a result of my overweight body, and because I was able to lower my pressure through exercise and weight loss, is it possible to "cure" my sleep apnea if I keep on exercising and losing weight?

  • Diabetic to Non-Diabetic?

I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in July 2004 with an A1C of 8.1%. Since then I have been very mindful of diet, exercise, and weight loss, and my A1C's have fluctuated within the 6%'s. I do not take any medication or insulin for control. Much to my joy, my last A1C was 5.9%! I understand this number to be technically within the non-diabetic range, and if my glucose readings over the past 90 days are any indication, I fully expect my A1C to drop even lower. Is it possible I could become a non-diabetic, or am I simply a diabetic under great control?

  • I've been prescribed Lamisil tablets twice. When I am on Lamisil, my glucose readings are great! Why?

I take Lamisil for occasional fungal infections under my toe nails and on the soles of my feet. I am also a type 2 diabetic, and I control my glucose with diet and exercise. I have been successful with keeping my A1C below 7%. Normally my glucose range is from 110 - 130 mg/dl, but when I am on Lamisil, my range is from 85 - 110. My doctor doesn't know why, and neither do I.
