how to get scammers to stop calling?
okay first, let me say that these are not telemarketers or bill collectors- they are truly scammers. The ones that attempt to extort money from people by calling and saying that a warrant is being issued for your arrest because of some (nonexistant) loan you did not pay and that you are prime suspect in a felony investigation unless you send them money today. they have left numerous threatening messages (they seem to love saying stuff like "if you ignore my call then I can only wish you good luck as this situation unfolds on you".)
These are folks outside the US who do not seem concerned about the "do not call" registry, or anyone telling them not to call anymore, or that you are on to them being a scam. they have called a total of 12 times JUST TODAY!
Anyone have any ideas?
7 個解答Law Enforcement & Police1 十年前Y&R storyline suggestions?
here are some suggestions for a few storylines, not that they would be any good but they would go along with the pattern that seems to be forming LOL:
Daisy gets a sex change and plastic surgery and comes back as Michael- Lauren doesn't notice a difference except that Michael's Legal practice begins to suffer.
Emily is not dead, just drugged. She survives the autopsy and digs herself out of her grave with her fingernails. When she shows up at the mansion, she sees Jack and Patty fighting because Jack has figured out he's been duped again. Jack leaves and she can't catch him, so she approaches patty, who drugs her, bathes her and switches clothes with her, then patty goes and smears her own clothes, face, and hair with mud, and convinces jack that she is the emily that dug herself out of the grave. He doesn't bother to verify and never notices that she doesn't have that big y-shaped autopsy incision.
Adam is alive- he gets plastic surgery too and now looks like nick. He goes back to GC, seduces sharon and talks her into leaving the country with him and not telling anyone where she is going or with who, and no one notices because the real nick is still there living his life, and no one has heard from sharon in awhile anyway.
Murph gets a commendation for his heroic helicopter flying efforts. Tucker tricks him into selling him the book rights for his story.
Jana goes back to being a homicidal maniac and Kevin takes on the silver chipmunk persona again- they live wackily ever after.
Phyllis gets a hangnail and must be readmitted to GC memorial.
Chance arrests everyone who was at the kangaroo court- but since sharon is nowhere to be found, he assumes she is the guilty one and sets everyone else free except victor who he still detains for being a pompous pig.
anyone else have more suggestions?
8 個解答Soap Operas1 十年前These scammers have my info!?
I got a call from someone who claimed to be a bill collector (long story behind that but the rest of it isn't important to my question)- and since I have an outstanding bill I have been trying to make arrangements to pay on, I thought it was legit. I ended up finding out that it was a scam- they were not the creditor I owe to and am looking to make payments to! I found stuff online from the phone number that they gave me, as well as the fax #, and after finding this info I called back to ask for details on my account (just to see if they had the info that the legitimate creditor would have), and the guy got angry and said that if I doubt that they are legitimate then not to send them any money and they would have me arrested (which I understand is a common tactic for these types of scams). I have not sent them any money yet, since I don't get paid until friday and had arranged to send them money then- but they insisted I fax them a letter authorizing them to debit my card on friday (though I didn't put any card information on it)- but I did (stupidly) include a xerox of my driver's license with the letter- all of this before I found out it was a scam. now I'm a little scared as to what they might be able to do with my driver's license copy and info. Does anyone know what I can do to stop this from happening (short of going back in time and not doing something so stupid)? I know you can put a fraud alert on your SS# (which I think they have too, since they gave me the last 4 digits for "verification")- but can you put something like that on your driver's license too? help please! :-/
And... please no lectures on what a stupid mistake it was or that I should get out of debt and never accrue any more debt or that kind of thing- I have made mistakes and am now attempting to dig myself out and avoid the same mistakes again, so please don't kick me while I'm down.
3 個解答Law Enforcement & Police1 十年前late on rent- is it really that bad (kind of long)?
Okay, here is the deal. My husband and I are renting this house. The owners offered us a rent that is quite low for the house we're in, because the house has been standing vacant, with them unable to rent or sell it for nearly two years before we moved in. We have been here about 6 months now. The thing is that my husband's job has been cutting back on his hours for several months now, (since about a month or so after we moved), and I have been looking for a job (I have not been employed since we married, almost 3 years ago, but we were doing okay until they started cutting his hours back). So, this month, we were late on our rent for the second time. both times (last month and this month) we were about 2 weeks late. Now the landlord is sending me heated emails. they asked last week for what was my plan on getting the payments caught up, and I explained that I am pretty sure I can get next month's rent to them by about 1 week past the due date, and then by june can have that rent in on time. Now I get a heated email from them saying that they cannot afford to support 2 households and reminding me again how much this is inconveniencing them. Now, given, I understand that I am falling behind on the original agreement, so they have a right to push for us to get caught up (in fact if i understand it correctly they have a right that once the rent is late they can tell us to pay up within 5 days and never be late again or they can evict us)- but in my defense, I have been very upfront with them. I have ALWAYS notified them when I would be late, and have been keeping them informed every step of the way and they know I'm looking for a job. It is not as if I have been avoiding them or that kind of thing. We have never been more than 2 weeks late, and that's only happened the last 2 months, and for those payments we payed the late fees listed in the rental agreement for any late payments. And they're kind of acting like we're costing them alot of money, but truth be told if we weren't living here they would have NO rent coming in and would be covering the mortgage out of pocket. plus they would be having to pay all the other expenses on the property (they were previously keeping up the electric, water, and yard maintenance, until we moved in). since they live in another part of the state they were paying for the yard to be mowed and stuff last summer, now we are taking care of all of that and paying all the utilities.
Now, let me back up and say again that I understand they have a right to demand we catch up on the rent. They're not even threatening eviction (thought they used the phrase "I don't mean to scare you" and then there was no threat given). I just, i don't know, I guess if I'm honest I'm just looking for someone to agree with me that they're laying it on a little heavy, implying that they are supporting 2 households, and implying that our being late is costing them alot of money, when if we were to move out it would cost them alot more. And the only time I have ever had trouble paying my rent on time before when my ex husband lost his job, as long as we paid the late fees, let them know what was going on, and weren't more than 30 days late, they were okay about it.
Anyway, input would be good, but please don't be mean about it.
2 個解答Renting & Real Estate1 十年前y&r- What's wrong with chance?
I really like chance, but he's getting on my nerves lately with this obsession with the newmans and adam's killer. I mean i get that it is ethical for him to want to find the truth and that- but his enthusiasm for this case does not seem in the least bit mitigated by the fact of what a monster adam was. Has anyone else noticed this??
7 個解答Soap Operas1 十年前On Y&R- why can't Jack see?
Why, Why, Why- I get that Patty's face is identical to Emily's, but we all know that plastic surgery on the face would not affect her body- (and certainly she didn't have like a naked picture of Emily so to get plastic surgery to make her body a perfect match as well- that would be even more left-field than what's already going on). So are we to believe that Patty's body is also identical to Emily's? So much so that Jack, having been intimate with Emily before, and with Patty now, could not notice a difference??? not to mention that Jack had also been intimate with "Mary Jane", who he is now aware was actually Patty- how does he not know the woman he is now sleeping with is Patty?? And don't get me started on the double-doppelganger plot!! Am I the only one who can't stand these plot lines that are so full of holes they could be swiss cheese???
9 個解答Soap Operas1 十年前anyone know of a free alternative to ms access db?
I have previously used microsoft access and the microsoft works database programs to organize info for our children's ministry. they worked well, but my machine has since crashed and I had to reload windows and don't have the software for either one anymore. What I need is a fairly simple database software that will allow me to create about 30 fields or so, and will hold a few hundred records. I would like it to also be able to run queries and generate reports. does anyone know of any database freeware that would fill this need? Thanks for your time.

I broke a tooth, a molar on the lower left. It doesn't hurt and doesn't seem sensitive to cold or anything. I am concerned though because I have no dental insurance, and I know i'll probably have to eventually go in to a dentist for this. any info/suggestions anyone has would be appreciated. (please, if all you have is a wisecrack, mean answer, etc, please do not waste my time or yours by posting it- it's not cute or funny, just annoying)
