Last week, I heard about this woman who was standing talking and suddenly, she feels numbness in her hands and feet followed by complete loss of control of her legs. Yesterday I found out she's quadriplegic now and is under close observation in the hospital. They say it's a bacterial infection of the spine. Is there a name for something like this?

I'm thinking of getting one but I need some convincing. Do they work as good as the regular ones? Can your hair be fairly wet when you use it (not dripping of course) or does it have to be just barely damp for it to work well? Which ones do you recommend?

I love pretty much every song by Nickelback and think Chad Kroeger has a great voice. So I was a little surprised to learn that many people not only just dislike him but despise him. I'm just curious why. For people who don't like Chad Kroeger/Nickelback: Is your dislike the same as how some people love rock or rap but despise pop or country? Is it either a "you either love him or you don't" kinda thing or has he done something bad that so many people dislike him? Thanks for the answers! :)

I've been flirting with the idea of becoming a vegetarian for a long time, now. I guess I need an extra push to finally take the plunge and become a vegetarian completely (I've reduced meat from my diet anyway, I've lost the appetite for it). I was wondering if you guys know of any good books regarding going veggie. Not recipe books, though. Just something that's a good read. Thanks. :-)

I feel like this is a silly question but I need to be sure. I consume typically 60g of fiber a day (what can I say, I love Fiber One too much). I've heard that it may hinder in the absorption of vitamins unless you drink a lot of water with that, Does the same thing hold true for birth control pills? I'm not on the pill now but will be on it soon.

... but I'm afraid. I'm afraid of the protesters that might be there. It's not like I'm going to get an abortion. Just a check-up and a prescription for birth control pills. I'm a college student and can't afford anything else at the moment (any other OB/GYNs) so planned parenthood is my best bet. But what do I do if I encounter protesters?

I'm 23. Today I read in a magazine that taking low-dose aspirin is beneficial for most people, whether or not they have heart problems. Is it a good idea to to take low-dose aspirin once a day, every day?

Two days ago I woke up and found a red patch/spot on my left breast on the upper side. It doesn't itch, it doesn't hurt. But it's a rather large, bright red spot/patch that seemed to grow overnight. When I press on it, it feels lumpy. It's slightly raised. Also, when I press on it, the redness disappears and reappears as soon as I stop pressing.

I've read a bit about inflammatory breast cancer and I am scared out of my mind. Can breast cancer even start out this way? With a red lump? I have no breast pains.

Any insight on what this could be? I'm only 22, I don't understand this at all. :(

Starting this summer, I'm planning to get an Associate's in Medical Assisting and on top of that, I'm planning to take the board exam and get certified. So I'll be a CMA. On top of that, the college I go to provides internships at the end of my degree in doctors' office and other medical settings.

All of these sound alright to me. But is there anything else I could do to increase my employment opportunities after graduation?

Maybe I'm a tomboy. I love playing Halo and other video games, I'm outdoorsy. I never wear makeup (I just don't like makeup very much, no other reason). But at the same time I like wearing skirts occasionally. I straighten my hair everyday. And I do love the color pink.

Does being a tomboy really mean you have to stop liking the colors pink or stop wearing skirts? This doesn't mean I'm going to give up my skirts to fit into the tomboy stereotype. I am what I am.

Are you a tomboy who still likes some girly stuff?
