It has been months since Yahoo spiked all comments on their news stories.  They claim that they are building a 'safer' environment.  If so, then they have the world's slowest programmers, analysts and executives.

Since then, Mousie has noticed that the stories about the election have been heavily in favor of the Donkeys and against the Elephants.

Is this just a coincidence?  Or is it a deliberate attempt to sway the election?

Will they pull the spike after polls close?

How is their reception?

Are they static free?

I've heard that they don't have the decibel levels that current radios have. True?

Please compare and/or contrast Social Security's structure with a Ponzi scheme. Do you agree with Perry? Is he stretching the truth? Is it a complete lie?

Life Insurance products in the private sector require that premiums cover BOTH current claims for your age group and the net present value of future claims.

For example, you purchase a whole life policy at age 25. You will pay premiums until you are age 65 [if you live that long]. The insurance company must [by state law] charge you enough premiums to cover the likelihood that you will die before you turn 65. Most of the people who are the same age as you will live until after age 65. The company must have a reserve to pay death benefits at ages 66, 67, 68, 69, etc. until everyone in your age group has died.

Social Security has no such reserve. It relies on taxes [premiums] collected from people who are the youngest of age to pay the benefits to people who are collecting monthly checks.

Perry says a Ponzi scheme works the same way. It requires an every 'investor' to pay the administrator of the scheme in order enter. The administrator uses the money to pay the previous investors their 'earnings'.

In golf there are rules for almost everything. Touch the sand in a hazard, penalty. Sign your card with the wrong score, DQ. Slow play, penalty. You name it and there is a golf rule to make you pay. Except... rude and unprofessional behavior seems to go unpunished.

Perhaps it's time to establish rules similar to those applied to tennis professionals. Their concentration and effort are just as intense as the golfers. They get penalized points and more for unprofessional behavior. Slam your racquet to the court or throw it into the air and you loose a point. Slam your club or toss it, add a stroke or two to the hole.

The Obama administration is going to replace the "Bush Doctrine" language that refers to "Islamic radicalism". He feels that it is too harsh and offends the vast majority of peaceful Muslims. It's not coming out for some time, so let's speculate what will replace it.

I was listening to a radio show that likes to ask puzzler questions (Car Talk on NPR Radio). Their question was about a man who was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, lived there all his life and even dies there, but was not an American Citizen. How could that be? Of course the answer was that he lived and died before 1776. He was a British Citizen.

I've got this twisted mind, so I thought, "Can it happen today?" My question is, "Is the child of a foreign diplomat that is born in the embassy in Washington, DC or NYC automatically considered an American citizen?" What about on the UN grounds in NYC? The embassy and the UN are considered 'foreign' soil. US law enforcement personnel have not authority there, unless granted by the UN or foreign mission.

I'm sure that a birth as described above has happened. Does anyone know of a case or court ruling that supports either side?

Please cite your answer. I'm not looking for a long answer, this isn't a homework question by some lazy teenager. Just a few words and a citation.

I know that Tiger is the world's best golfer. Quite frankly, I'm not interested in his golf. I know that Tiger can be distracted by crown noise. Just wondering........

Whenever I watch golf on TV (it isn't often) some yahoo (sorry about that Y!A) is always shouting "Get in the hole" whenever a golfer is within range of the green. I'm just wondering what would happen to TW if he got an occasional "G-I-T-H" during his address of the ball or back swing. Do you think that it would disturb him enough to walk off the course and quit the game?

It occurred to me that vegans and GW believers had much in common. Both have concern for the planet and it's inhabitants, human and animals.

If you are concerned about GW AND a vegan would you use vegan leather? Real leather is biodegradable and renewable, but you must kill animals to get it. Naugahyde is plastic and neither biodegradable nor renewable, however no animals have to die.

I know that I will get a lot of SPLATT from some people on this, but I'd really like some legitimate answers from the vegan and GW concerned communities.

PS. I am neither a vegan nor do I believe that there is a man-made global warming catastrophe coming in this century.

It seems that the Earth's magnetic field is weakening in the southern hemisphere (See above link).

Is it possible that this affects the "Ozone Hole" over the South Pole or is responsible for some (or all) of the perceived global warming?

I know that ozone does have a polarity, if the magnetic field is weakening, would that change the distribution of ozone in the atmosphere?

Would it allow more solar radiation to penetrate through the magnetosphere and be a major cause in perceived global warming?

I want to put a windmill to produce electricity on the roof of my house, put solar panels on the blades and use the windmill to pump water from my well. Then I'd use the water to run my hydroelectric plant.

Is that green enough or should I use the water to irrigate my corn field so I can make ethanol for my hybrid car?

The boss is partially disabled and uses a walker. So, handicapped accessable is important. Long walks are out.

1. The boss loves to shop, go to museums and cultural sites and shop. What are some good ones in and around Anchorage, Seward, Homer and Denali NP?. Did I mention that the boss likes to shop?

2. Are there places to pit-stop along the way from Anchorage to Denali NP? We went to New Mexico a couple of years back and in several parts of the trip there wasn't a place to stop for hours. That's not an option for someone with TBS (Tiny Bladder Syndrome).

3. What is the terrain like on the way to Denali? The boss doesn't like driving on mountainous, twisty roads!!! Should we take the train or drive? (I'd rather drive, she'd like the train).

4. What are the top sites to see in Anchorage, Seward and Homer? If you had to choose between visiting Seward or Homer, which one would you pick?
