"Who are you (oo oo, oo oo)" I used to spend a lot of time wondering who I was, and what my place in the world would be. Finally over that (for the most part) I'm simply happy to be me. All of the titles and descriptions in the world would still do a poor job in quantifying the individualities that make all of us amazing creatures. I'm interested in a great many things. I like to play MMOs as well as real dice-rolling tabletop games. Role play is an aspect I love because it allows me to be myself in the guise of all of the people I've been before, and some of the people I will be. I'm also interested in the metaphysical. Our home seems to be a clearinghouse for spirits moving to and from whatever they decide to go. I'm also rather empathic and I have a degree of intuition. I love energy work and working with tarot. I also have a hard time watching the news because of the senseless violence. At the end of the day, I am. That's enough for me.

  • Advice for torn-off tampon?

Okay, here's my situation. I put a tampon in after my shower tonight. After dinner and before bed I went to change it. When I took it out there was a chunk missing from the top, you can see where the cotton fabric is torn away, and I can feel the little piece still inside. I tried using a douche and relaxing (and the sitting on the toilet, sweeping thing that is excellent advice online) with no success.

I know that stressing about this isn't going to help, however it's really in my nature to stress and there's a fair amount of anxiety right now because we're in the middle of moving. I've taken a muscle relaxant to see if that can help.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm 35, not a virgin, and been using tampons since I was 18.

    Thanks!

  • Converting 6 digits to time in Excel 2003?

I have a large spreadsheet each day that lists 24 hour times:

    9:45:24 am renders as 94524

    9:45:24 pm renders as 214524

I need to do a large number of calculations between times:

    121824 minus

    120000

If the colons were in place for the time, Excel would recognize it and subtract correctly. The problem is every formula I attempt in excel (ie hh:mm:ss) comes out as 0:00:00

What is the proper formatting so that I can turn 121824 into 12:18:24?

I will be so excited if someone can help me!!! Thanks in advance!

  • How many Christians would do this (serious question - details inside)?

Background information: My office is open 7 days a week. Employees bid at intervals for new hours and days off based on senority.

Okay, I was taking a walk through the office and I came across a young woman in tears, talking with her co-workers. She was under a great deal of stress, in her work, her private life, her family. It's simply a difficult time for her right now.

She went on to say that she was always tired because she had "split days off" - she has Sunday and Wednesday off. She is at her wits end because she can't ever get done what she needs to with her days off.

One of the other women there said to her "well why don't you ask X to change your off days. I've got Wednesday and Thursday and I'm fine."

The womans response was a look of horror as she said "You mean work on the sabbath? I could never do that!"

Bah I'm wordy today - the actual question in details in a second...

  • Searching for a word (pls help)?

I am searching for a word. I think part of the reason it's eluding me right now is because it's not very flattering and I don't WANT to find it. Nevertheless it's driving me crazy.

I have an interesting habit of giving people the benefit of the doubt long after my other friends or family have written them off as arrogant, or egotistial, or psychotic or whatever. I however, seem to make excuses and say "No, they're misunderstood," or "They just need someone to listen to them." In every case the others have been right and I've usually wound up frustrated, upset and hurt.

Well I did it again. The good news for me is that I realized pretty quickly what was going on so I don't waste more time & energy.

The point is, there's a word for this behavior and I can't think of what it might be. The closest I could come would be 'altruistic' but that's just... wrong. I'm not that good a person.

If you can help I'm grateful!

  • Did you know it was my birthday today? Do you know what I'd like?

I'm SO happy that it's my birthday today! You know, I used to hate them. I'm actually in a place where I can look at the person I am and be happy about her - flaws and psycosis and all. I've worked hard for that.

So do you know what I'd like for my birthday? I'd like reassurance that people can put aside (or even embrace) their differences and realize that we have a lot more in common than we realize (and even more than we feel comfortable with in some cases).

    Happy 35th to me!

  • Feelings of Foreboding / Danger?

I'm going to be intentionally vauge here, and if you don't want to give an in-depth answer that's fine. In the past few weeks have you experienced any overwhelming feeling of 'danger' or 'foreboding' that popped up out of the blue? Even a yes/no would be helpful.

  • Stuck sunflower seed - no joke!!!?

Okay, you will think I'm crazy. Well I am but that's not really relevant here. Anyway...

I was eathing sunflower seeds today and somehow I think I got a sliver of husk stuck in my throat. It's stuck there and feels like a little needle pricking me each time I swallow. Here's what I've tried, some of which are suggestions from friends and family:

    Brushing my teeth

    Gargling

    Rincing with mouthwash

    making myself burp

    making myself sneeze

using my finger to try and get at it

    being a little sick

drinking a whole lot of water at once

    drinking something really hot

Does anyone know of anything else I could try. I'm not really good with anatomy but it feels almost as though it's under my jaw.

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Treats for a cat who doesn't want to eat?

We noticed yesterday that our four year old cat wasn't eating or filling his litter box. We took him to the vet today and the vet said that when big cats stop eating they can get liver problems. We are giving him the antibiotics twice a day but he still doesn't want to eat.

We've tried his usual food, his normal food with water, with milk, several kinds of soft food, milk and tuna. Of all of these he will lap at the liquid the tuna comes in but doesn't eat much.

The vet said that if he doesn't start eating soon they'll have to put him in the hospital and make him eat. I can't imaging he'll enjoy that.

So my question (after my londwinded tiraide) is does anyone else know of any yummy foods I might try and give him?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Proof of extraordinary beliefs and love? All welcome, interested in Athiest viewpoint?

There was just a question asked about extraordinary beliefs being proved. It's at

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsbPz...

My question, specifically for people who don't profess a spiritual belief, is about love.

Do you love someone? I think that love, like spirituality, is also extraordinary. Wouldn't one then need proof of love?

How do you prove to your loved ones that you indeed love them? Are actions enough? How do you quantify loving someone? Is it all brain patterns? Are emotions involved? How do you quantify them?

I'm truly interested in answers from all realms, but particualry from Athiests. My personal belief is that everyone finds their own truth, and I'm asking the question to truly try and understand and not be snarky. Thanks!

  • A spiritual right of passage?

Up to this point my life has been fairly transient. I have lived in countries on multiple continents,. I have had a job of some sort since I was 16 and have been successful at everyting I have tried. I've been at my current job for some years now.

Today, I ran out of staples. I went to get a new strip out of the box and found that it's empty. I've never run out of staples with any other job I've had.

That empty box got me thinking. Is this a sign that things for me are becoming permenant? That somehow I might have actually stumbled on the right path? If so, then this empty staple box is a rite of passage for me.

Or does it mean that I staple too much?

It's a weird question, I know but I'm really curious what other people think.

  • Ear catilage sensitivity (see details)?

Okay, I've been wondering about this for a while. I have two sets of holes in my ears which I had pierced about 10 years apart. The lower set isn't sensitive to anything, I can leave earrings in there for ever and not have it so much as itch.

The second set though becomes irritated after as little as 5 hours. I've tried the hypo-alergenic posts, silver, gold, platinum, even plastic and always get the same reaction.

Does anyone know why this might happen (other than I'm weird)?

I'm asking because I would like to pierce some of the cartilage on the upper part of my ears but won't do it if I'm likely to have the same reaction.

I also have a pierced nostril and two tattoos. None of this irritates me, just the second set of holes.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Did the majority of people in R&S tonight misplace their humor?

Sure, we get the usual round of point-counterpoint questions and answers but somehow we all seem to be a little.. humorless? I even checked to see if it's a full moon or not (it isn't).

Have we forgotten that we can express opinions and thoughts that go deeper than "All X-people are X"?
